Bastian Achard is a photographer and moving image director. Since first growing fond of the medium in his teenage years, Bastian became absorbed with the image-making’s potent ability to convey feelings without words – a quality that still remains central to how he sees his practice today. In his body of work, Bastian probes genuine emotions and the natural facets of his subjects, mediated through a visual language centred around arresting compositions and vibrant colours.
His imagery consistently explores the notion of honesty, presenting a multi-layered standpoint on human condition and quotidian environments. This mindful approach to capturing the striking essence of people as well as ordinary and designed objects has been recognised by a wide variety of influential cultural and fashion titles.
Bastian’s recent works have been published by T Magazine, M le Monde, Harpers Bazaar France, Apartamento, The World of Interiors, Architectural Digest, Financial Times HTSI, El Pais, Die Zeit and Atmos. Commercial assignments include Hermès, Chanel, Zara, Berluti, Mango, Mr Porter, H&M, Harrods, Hugo Boss, Axel Arigato & MCM amongst others.
